Paid hosting for your philosophy websites continued
When it comes to choosing your host you want to tread carefully. Most hosting providers will want you to pay a few months in advance. My personal recommendation is that you don't spend more than £5 a month and go for a well known name. Once you've narrowed your choices down to a select few, send each hosting provider an email outlining what you want to do with your site. If you intend to have scripts running on your site, so you can have polls, forums etc. then you will need to check that your host allows you to do this.

These hosting providers are listed for your information, I'm not recommending that you should or shouldn't use these providers. If you are thinking of hosting then spend at least an afternoon searching the internet for a good host. Remember what your Gran says - Act in haste and you'll repent in leisure.
Thinking of paying for web hosting - here's a top tip!
When you're considering a particular host, check to see how many ways there are of contacting their support staff. If they offer a support email, live chat or phone number - give each of them a go and see how easy it is to get a response. What you want is to get a response and not just a courtesy email saying they've received your query and someone will get back to you. A good hosting provider should contact you within a few hours. I personally want hosts which I can talk to immediately either over the phone or in a chat-room style box.
This might seem like a bit of an effort but it's nothing compared to having your site go down and not being able to find out why because your host won't answer your emails. Or perhaps you want to install a script and have a question about your root folder - do you want to spend 10mins in a chat-room or wait 3 days or more for an email?
