Free forums for your philosophy websites
Discussion boards, message boards, forums - call them what you will - can really help keep visitors coming back to your site. A forum is an easy way to create a community feel to your website. However it can be difficult to get a forum going. Many people visit forums to lurk (only read posts without making them) and it takes a lot of posts before people can be enticed into responding themselves.
Phpbb.com
You can get a very good quality message board from these guys. You can have numerous categories and members can send personal messages (a bit like email) to each other. You will need to have a little experience in setting up databases on your hosts server to install the forum and it's highly unlikely you could do this in a free host. If you sign up with Webgemshosting they have a simple wizard which creates your phpbb forum instantly.
Chumster
If that all sounds like too much then you could always use Chumster. You get the same forum as above and all you have to do is sign-up for free. Chumster will host your forum for you and all you'd have to do is stick a link on your site to your Chumster forum. You have less control over your forum than if you were hosting it yourself and you must have chumster's adverts on your forum. However you can link to this forum from your free site and need no technical knowledge.
WWWToolz.com
They have remotely hosted scripts you can sign-up to for free. I haven't used their board. But I did use there web poll on a site once. Worth checking out. UPDATE: See one of their boards in action at the Albert Camus Society
